Scholarship by Japanese Government for Tanzanians (Monbukagakusho: MEXT Scholarship Program)





The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT; in Japanese "Monbukagakusho") of Japan offers Tanzanian students 2 types of scholarship to study at Japanese universities or colleges: Research students, and Japanese Studies Students.

For scholarship in 2020, follow the instruction below for each scholarship and apply by FRIDAY 31st MAY 2019 either by post or by hand addressed to the CULTURAL SECTION of the Embassy of Japan. NO SUBMISSION REACHED THE EMBASSY AFTER 31st MAY 2019 WILL BE ACCEPTED





  The Embassy will contact ONLY those who have passed the each selection process. 

  Tentative Schedule 2019-2020

  31st May (Fri): Deadline for application

  Middle of June : First Interview

  Middle of July : Written Exam and Final Interview

  23th August(Fri): Deadline of applying to Japanese Universities for "Letter of Provisional Acceptance"(only who has passed final interview) 

  24th September(Tue): Submitting the "Letter of Provisional Acceptance" to the Embassy

  January - March 2020: Announcement of Final Result

  March 2020: Orientation and Gathering with ex-MEXT scholars

  First week of April(September/October) 2020: Departure to Japan

Make sure to read the guideline thoroughly, and submit all the necessary documents appropriately. Most applicants fail because of insufficient documents. APPLICATION WITH INSUFFICIENT DOCUMENTS WILL NOT BE EXAMINED.
  1. Japanese Studies Students
Recruitment will be done through the University of Dodoma (UDOM) for the students learning in Japanese language.
