Chevening Scholarships
A prestigious award to fund your UK postgraduate studies

Are you:
a talented graduate, with at least an Upper Second degree?
a young professional in early to mid career?
a future leader?
between 25-39 years old and a Tanzanian citizen?

Do you:
have at least 3 years relevant work experience?
want to make a difference to your country?
want to study for a Masters degree in the UK?
have good English language skills (minimum IELTS of 6.5)?
want help with funding your studies?

If you answer “YES” to all of the above then a British Chevening Scholarship could be right for you.

Funded by the UK's Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and administered by the British Council, the Chevening scheme operates in over 150 countries and annually provides funding for over 2,300 postgraduate students world-wide.

The aim of the Chevening Scholarships scheme is to bring to the UK future leaders, decision-makers and opinion-formers for a period of postgraduate study at a formative stage of their careers. A Chevening scholarship gives you the chance to experience a world-renowned educational system, taste UK life, and meet other Chevening scholars, and more. Once you become a Chevening scholar, you will discover many opportunities to develop your career and become a future leader in your field.

How do you apply?

Note that all applications must be made using our new online procedure. Paper applications will NOT be accepted.

To apply, go to our new online Chevening application site and follow the instructions. At the beginning of the process you will be asked to create a log-in name and password. You will then complete a Chevening application form online. The system allows partial completion of an application so that you can return to complete the form. When all pages of the application have been completed you should submit your application as instructed. From this point forward you will no longer be able to log in - your log-in and password will be deleted.

Note that applicants who have already secured places on Masters courses at specific UK Higher Education Institutions will be given preference.

The deadline for applications for the 2009/10 academic year is 31 December 2008. We will contact you in February 2009 if you are shortlisted for a scholarship interview. Interviews will be held in Dar es Salaam in March/April 2009.
